The YWCA of Banff is a registered Canadian charity (#896331485 RR0001).  We tackle two key local issues, the lack of affordable housing and the prevention of violence against women and children.

Every night, the YWCA of Banff provides affordable housing to 125 people.

Every week the YWCA of Banff provides crucial counseling support, preventative programs and access to a local women’s shelter to those in need.

But, it’s only through the time, talent and treasure of the entire community that the YWCA of Banff is able to provide these essential, critical services in the Bow Valley.  It is through your continued support and generosity that the YWCA of Banff has in the past year served hundreds of community members in critical need, through various programs and services, and it is only with you that we will be able to continue our work.

Please read on below, and discover how you can be part of the solution.

Donations
There are a variety of ways in which you can support the YWCA of Banff -

  • Become an individual donor – click here to make your donation
  • Host a company fundraising event
  • Provide gifts-in-kind, which we can either use directly or auction off to raise money
  • Participate in a Day of Caring with your place of business, and by investing in our endowment program to ensure our services continue into the future.

In addition, we provide donors with specific recognition opportunities and, depending upon the level of support, we can customize these opportunities to suit individual needs.

Tax Savings

There are considerable tax savings to making a charitable donation to the YWCA of Banff. Depending on your taxable income and the amount of your gift, these savings can be considerable and make your after tax donation much more affordable.

For example $200 and under – If you donate $200 or less to registered Canadian charities this year, you receive a tax credit of 25% (15% federal tax credit plus 10% provincial tax credit).  So a $200 donation can actually cost you only $175.

$200 and over –  If you donate over $200 to registered Canadian charities this year, you receive a tax credit of 50% (29% federal tax credit plus 21% Alberta provincial tax credit).  So a $500 donation can actually cost you only $300!

Or a $1,000 donation can cost you only $582!

Tax credits vs. tax deductions

Donations to the YWCA of Banff are tax credits not deductions.  So when you claim them on your taxes each year, they are applied like cash against the amount of taxes you pay. This is much more valuable than a tax deduction, which only reduces your taxable income.

Your donation is also tax deductible and you will promptly be issued a receipt of donation.
